List of Major Fine Ceramics Materials

This is a list of main fine ceramics materials. Please refer to it for material selection.

Fine ceramics are classified into two types: engineering ceramics and machinable ceramics. Engineering ceramics are processed by cutting and then sintered, and after sintering, they can only be subjected to grinding and polishing, which gives them excellent wear resistance. Machinable ceramics, on the other hand, are not sintered after cutting, allowing them to be machined multiple times like general resins and metals. However, they are harder, more brittle, and prone to chipping compared to general resins and metals, making them less machinable and increasing processing time. Fine ceramics possess various characteristics, such as excellent heat resistance, wear resistance, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and thermal conductivity. Therefore, it is important to select the material based on the required properties.

High-performance material "Machinable Ceramics" ideal for prototyping and development.

[Free sample currently available] Quick response and cost reduction for processing is possible! Since mold production and firing are not required, you can obtain the desired shape in a short delivery time.

Machinable ceramics, despite being ceramics, do not require molds for part production. Due to their machinability, they can achieve complex and fine shapes compared to conventional ceramic materials, while keeping processing costs low. Of course, they also possess the heat resistance and dimensional stability characteristic of ceramics. We solve the common challenges associated with high-performance materials through our extensive application track record and material options! If you are having trouble selecting materials for ceramics or high-performance resins, please feel free to contact us.

High-strength boron nitride 'ZSBN' lasts five times longer than conventional BN.

Machinable ceramics that are resistant to wetting by metals and have excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance! For materials used in melting and powder production in a vacuum furnace!

"ZSBN" is a composite material developed for demanding applications that require a combination of thermal shock resistance, high wear resistance, excellent moisture resistance, and corrosion resistance. It combines the strength and wear resistance of zirconia with the thermal performance and machinability of hot-pressed boron nitride, making it particularly suitable for applications involving molten metals where wear resistance and thermal conductivity are essential. ZSBN nozzles are made from solids processed by hot pressing micron-sized particles, achieving a very smooth finish and strict tolerances. 【Features】 ■ Low wettability with metals (examples of compatible metals: Al, Fe/Ni/Co, Fe, Au, Ag, Cu) ■ Excellent wear and corrosion resistance (stable particle size contributes to increased yield) ■ No mold required (suitable for experiments involving shape changes in development furnaces) ■ Can accommodate large sizes (150×480×480mm) ■ Easy machinability (easy to secure tolerances, suitable for fine hole nozzle machining) ■ Excellent thermal shock resistance (3.4–4.1×10^-6 /K (RT to 400℃)) ■ High strength (bending strength 107–144MPa, approximately 5 times that of high-purity BN) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Engineering ceramics that accommodate difficult 3D shapes and sizes.

[Presentation of Materials with Examples] 3D shapes and sizes that were impossible with conventional ceramics are now possible! Contributes to cost reduction with material production close to the final shape.

Lepton's "Engineering Ceramics" features some of the world's highest purity alumina and is a high-performance material that enables 3D shapes and sizes that were difficult to achieve with conventional ceramics. By utilizing a rib structure that takes advantage of high Young's modulus, we have achieved a balance of "lightweight" and "rigidity," realizing a new form of fine ceramics. Additionally, our integrated network of in-house manufacturing, in-house processing, and partner factories allows for the creation of materials close to the final shape, contributing to reductions in material and processing costs. We have received high praise in various fields, including semiconductor and LCD manufacturing equipment, as well as powder processing equipment. If you are facing challenges with ceramics, please feel free to consult with us. *Currently, we are offering the latest catalog featuring examples of 3D-shaped products and new product information! *If you are interested, you can download the materials or contact us through our website.

[Achievements Introduction] Benefits of Ceramic Molds

We will introduce the achievements of ceramicizing molds and their benefits.

Ceramics have excellent wear resistance compared to metals and are lightweight materials. Among them, silicon nitride ceramics are used in various industrial equipment due to their resistance to cracking and high mechanical strength at elevated temperatures. Our silicon nitride products include the standard type SNP02 and the high-strength type SNP03. We have summarized the benefits of converting molds to ceramics. For more details, please refer to “【Case Studies】Benefits of Mold Ceramics.”
